My journey as an artist has been anything but straightforward, but every step has shaped the work I create today. I began studying at the prestigious Art Academy of Riga, yet quickly realised that painting on demand—still lifes and scenes I felt no connection to—was not where my creativity belonged. I left after a few months, preparing instead for an architectural degree, where I found discipline, structure, and a different kind of creativity.
For years I put painting aside to focus on architecture and curation. Highlights of that path include exhibiting at the Venice Biennale alongside Lateral North and Dualchas within the Scotland + Venice Pavilion, creating film and photography pieces for the exhibition, and curating shows with PoleStar (the electric car brand) and Arch&Aerial. These experiences taught me how art and design can shape not just a room, but the way people feel within it.
Now, with the perspective of motherhood and the freedom of working for myself, I’ve returned fully to painting—this time on my own terms. I am embracing my art career with the intention of building something lasting, collectible, and deeply personal. My work is inspired by the Scottish landscape, translated into muted, calm, and timeless tones that bring stillness into interiors.
